This article across two issues of the Victor Association Newsletter shows some of the views and experiences made by former Victor pilot W/C Bob Prothero on synthetic training in flight simulators, with specific interest in AAR flight simulation and the problems that arose as the necessary CGI software was developed. In 1972 the Air Force Board Standing Committee endorsed an interim policy for flight simulators. Bob seems to have become involved at around mid-1985 which this article is taken from, by which time some 114 major simulators were in RAF use with about £40M per annum spent on major equipment.
